What One Should Know About Miami Deep Sea Fishing

By Patrick Perry

Deep sea fishing is an angling that happens at great distances into the ocean far from land. It also goes by several other names including offshore boat, big game, and sport fishing. For an activity to be viewed so, it must be happening at places of depths not less than thirty meters from the ocean surface. Miami deep sea fishing services provide the public with luxurious boats and equipment at very reasonable rates. To many people, this is a great way of spending vacations. This is one of the activities that people engage in while on vacation in Miami.

There are many differences between offshore boat fishing and the normal version of the activity. The first difference is that people travel to deeper parts of oceans or seas. In such parts of the water, they are exposed to different species of fish that only live in deeper parts of the ocean. These species include sharks, swordfish, tuna, and marlin among many others.

Deeper waters are preferred by the aforementioned fish species because there is enough space and prey in such places of the ocean. Under normal circumstances, they will never be seen near the shore. The challenge presented in catching these fish is what most people enjoy. The process is entertaining and provides food at the same time. However, not all people want the fish for food. Some just want the fun and they will throw fish back in the ocean in the end.

A normal expedition will start with chartering a boat at the shore. The boat comes with all equipment that one may need and life jackets just in case something goes wrong while in the water. A team of experienced individuals may come along to navigate the boat and offer advice or help whenever it is necessary. The charter received provides permission for the entire group to fish.

Many people finish the trip at dusk and return the boat. Pictures are often taken with people carrying the fish they caught. This has become a tradition because almost everyone takes pictures. The expedition starts with navigating the boat straight into the sea to a place where land is out of sight. Such places are considered to be the prime grounds for offshore boat fishing.

Methods used after reaching the desirable spot are many and diverse. Major ones involve using spears, nets, and hooks. Different methods are preferred by different people. Regardless of the method used, most people tend to enjoy the struggle involved in bringing fish onboard the most. Game fish are not that easy to bring onboard from the water. They put up a long and fierce fight before they can be caught. Big tunas are known to last over 4 hours.

The process can be physically exhausting for some people. Once caught there are many things to do with the fish. Some people, especially those interested in the fun alone release the fish after catching it. Some take it home as food while others tag them for research purposes.

In Miami, there are laws that regulate this activity. The laws are meant to prevent overexploitation of game fish by people. For instance, all fish caught must be logged with the authorities before being taken home. There is also a limit on the size of catch per trip.
