All About Electric Bikes Toronto

By Marlene Blevins

Although different types of bicycles powered by batteries exist for several years, recently they became more popular. In the City of Toronto, it is not allowed to use battery powered vehicles on multi-use trails. Apparently, now it is allowed to use bicycle lanes, thanks to the newest traffic rules. Lightweight, compact and Eco-friendly electric bikes Toronto residents often use as an alternative mode of transportation.

E-bike is really a highly practical hybrid of a bicycle and a scooter. You can use it as a regular bicycle, pedaling it around, but you can also use it as a lightweight scooter. The bike is equipped with 500 watt battery and one charge is usually enough for approximately fifty kilometers. Quiet, light, affordable and environmental-friendly, this new and interesting mode of transportation is really interesting.

When it runs on an electric battery, the e-bike can speed up to 32 kilometers per hour. This is the maximum allowed speed for this type of a vehicle. You can go for a joyride and get fit at the same time. When you get tired of pedaling, simply turn on your battery and you will get home in no time at all.

E-bikes are quite affordable, compared to gas powered scooters, lightweight, comfortable and easy to maintain. They make a perfect alternative to other vehicles in congested city areas. Thanks to the fact that you can ride them just like standard bicycles, you can easily get in shape. When you get tired, simply turn on your battery, and the problem is solved.

The cheapest and easiest way to get to work when you live in congested city is to use your e-bike. Scooters are also quite practical, but much heavier, more expensive and not nearly so clean and easy to maintain. Although this is still relatively new mode of transportation, it has so many great advantages that it becomes more and more popular all over the world.

If you would like to keep your fancy bike, it is easy to convert it to an e-bike with affordable retrofit kits. These kits usually contain the same 500 watt battery that can be found on original e-bikes. The only thing to worry about is to remember to plug it in every evening, to recharge. It will cost you almost nothing.

You won't have any additional expenses such as insurance costs or license fees. The only stipulation is that you have to be at least sixteen years of age, you have to wear a helmet and you shouldn't exceed the maximum speed limit of 32 kilometers per hour. That's it. If you care about your health as well as about your green and healthy environment, this is the best choice you can make.

This is also a great way to get in shape. Once you get tired, simply let your battery do the hard job. Depending on the model, one battery charge will last for maybe fifty kilometers. New and advanced models will last twice as long. If you are going on a trip, plan it carefully. It is always possible to continue by pedaling, if your battery is empty, or simply bring a spare battery in your bag, just in case.
