Travel With A Pocketful Of Wonderful Tips

By Andrew Reyes

You can have so much fun traveling if you are always on the lookout for ways to help you plan better. Whether you are looking to cut expenses, lighten your baggage or cut out the common problems of travel, these tips are for you.

Make notes of all the details of your trip. Keep copies of your travel documents with you, and make sure that you always have all the contact info for the US embassy that is located in the areas you will be traveling. You will need to be able to contact them if any issues arise when you are abroad. They can help with any problems that arise.

Use a list to help you pack your essentials. Make your packing list weeks before you leave for your trip. That way, even if you wait to pack until you're in a time crunch, the list can help you avoid clutter and to stay organized.

Most people live and die by reserving the seat next to the window; however, you should consider one on the aisle. A window seat has a view, but a seat at the aisle allows you more freedom in accessing your overhead bags, restrooms, getting attention of the service staff, and free space on one side of you.

A luggage tag isn't always enough. You also should place ID inside the bags. Outside tags are easily ripped off. Placing identifying info inside your luggage can ensure that it is returned to you in the event it becomes separated from the luggage tag.

Upon arrival, check your hotel room's alarm. It is not surprising to have an alarm clock go off in the dead of the night, sometimes set by a previous traveler or even set as a prank. Waking up at the time of your choice is ideal for your vacation.

Trying getting in a big workout before you board the plane. Long flights can be tedious. Sitting in the same position for long periods of time can cause leg and back cramps. You can have more energy at the end of your flight when your warm up and stretch before takeoff.

Store your travel items in one place. Don't waste your time searching your home for plug adapters, a travel pillow, or your toiletries. Purchase a plastic bin and keep everything you need for travel in one spot. One good idea is to keep the bin under your bed where it is out of the way but still easy to access the next time you want to travel.

Is your hotel less than glamorous? Bring along a rubber doorstop for safety. You can wedge it in under the door to your room overnight (in addition to the lock and chain, of course). Intruders can break a lock or chain, but the doorstop will make is much harder to get into the room.

You can make your vacation more eco-friendly by using environmentally responsible services. A number of hotels have linen reuse programs, recycling bins, energy efficient lights, low flow plumbing, alternative sources of energy and so on. Various travel service providers, such as car rental agencies, tour operators and restaurants, offer ways to permit travelers to be eco-friendly.

If you are traveling to a different time zone, you may experience jet lag. There is no way to completely avoid it, but if you can get more sleep for several days before the flight it should help lessen the effects. Sleeping during the flight can help too.

Take an additional passport photo when you travel abroad. It can take a while to replace a passport that has gone missing. The whole process will be significantly faster if you have an extra photo on hand. Also, bring any documentation that will be needed to obtain a new passport.

When problems arise, it can be frustrating. You may experience a delay in your flight. When dealing with these types of situations, it will normally be you and your agent trying to figure out how to fix the situation. Though you both wish for a peaceful resolution, it can be easy to get upset. Be positive and maintain your cool. This will make for an easier resolution and less stressful trip.

It's easy to see that planning well for your vacation can prevent your dream vacation from becoming a nightmare. You now have the advice needed to take the worry from your vacation and find the relaxation that you deserve.
