Moving On From The Past

By Evan Sanders

What a mess.

Our past can seem like an inescapable cage that weighs down on us every single day. Constantly we are reminded of prior pain, mistakes we have made, people we have lost, and the list of transgressions goes on and on.

The past at times can become this metaphorical prison cell that deters us from living in the present and truly being able to create a better future for ourselves.

What can you really do to move on from the past?

Repair it all. Repair everything that makes you cringe when you think about it. Will going back to the past be incredibly hard at times? Yes, of course. But going back into those events and situations where you didn't exactly handle yourself in the best ways can actually bring great peace to your life if you take responsibility for what you've done.

But the most beneficial aspect of cleaning up your past is that you give yourself a fresh slate to work on in this moment. When you aren't controlled by situations and events that have taken place previously, you can really show up in this moment and be whoever you want to be. Isn't that powerful? Wouldn't that be ideal?

While it can be incredibly difficult to do all of this, you have to. You have to if you really want to start to see what is possible for you. Honestly, it's the only way to get yourself back into a place where you can begin to create the life you've always wanted to live.

Come back to this moment. Move on from the past. Give yourself the opportunity to connect with how amazing this life is right now and don't be afraid to truly live.

After all, this moment is all you really have.
