By Annabelle Holman

There are many things that can cause the premature birth of babies. These babies usually come into the world before all their body organs have fully developed thus they cannot survive by living normally. One of the main things that usually comes out being undeveloped in the digestive system thus these kids need other methods of nursing that will not require digestion. Pediatric tube feeding is one of the most common methods that are used to nourish these children.

This kind of nourishing is carried out with the aid of a tender channel that is used for delivering liquid nutrients into the gastrointestinal parts of the body. This nursing mode is used to nurture people who cannot eat normally and is most commonly utilized on premature neonatal babies. Other than the infants who are born premature, this mode of nursing can also be utilized on older individuals who have body problems that hinder regular eating.

Some of the health conditions that prevent individuals from eating ordinarily are neuromuscular sicknesses such as cerebral palsy, metabolism problems like burns or cancer, hyper metabolic illnesses, problems related to food digestion and numerous other ailments that may not all be mentioned.

There are two different types of tube nourishing namely the enteral and the parenteral feeding. In enteral feeding, the duct is used to put liquid food into the gastrointestinal system then the body will digest it. This is used on infants who have problems of ingestion only. The parenteral feeding is when the food is put directly into the blood system. This method is usually used on infants whose digestive system is undeveloped.

Enteral nursing is also separated into different groups which are dependent on the area in which the duct is directed into the body plus the part it directs the food. For example, the nasogastric tube transports the nutrients from the nasal region to the intestines. The Nasodeudenal consist of the transport of nutrients from the nose right into the duodenum. The Gastronomy tubes are normally implanted from a medical opening anywhere in the body.

Sometimes the parents of these babies have to use these tubes at home. If this is being done, then there are some things that they must observe carefully to avoid the development of ant kinds of complications. The tubes should be replaced regularly say within a period of fourteen days. If the baby pulls the duct accidentally before the replacement time has reached then they can use the same duct.

Before changing tubes always make sure that they are thoroughly cleaned with a lot of clean water and soap. The new tubes should be inserted through a different nostril. Before using the duct, always make sure that it is in good condition. A good one usually has a wire inside that prevents it from curling inside the body. It is also important that you measure the length of the duct that should be inserted before reaching the stomach.

The baby is not expected to feel a lot of discomfort when the pipe is being implanted. If this occurs then something must be wrong. Their nasal region must be inspected regularly and also maintained while clean all times to avoid any kinds of contamination that may arise.
