How To Write A Book In A Few Steps

By David Gray

Writing a novel is something that is quite difficult to do but extremely fulfilling especially if one has a good story in mind. Now usually, the most difficult part for any writer would be starting the story because his flow is not yet there. So for those who are not experts in writing yet, here are some tips on how to write a book.

Now the first step after conceptualizing the idea would be to of course think of the flow of events. To start off, one first needs to determine the setting of his story which means that he has to know the time and place of his story. Aside from the setting, one also has to create a list of characters that he will be using throughout the tale which would include the hero, the villain, and the supporting characters.

Now when one has already finished this, then he may move on to create the flow of his story by making use of an outline that will help him have proper coherence. Now the traditional flow of events would actually be of course the intro of the main characters, then the build up of this story, then the big climax wherein a twist would usually happen which would be followed by the conclusion. With this model, one can make an outline first and just fill up the details after.

Now the first thing to write would be the introduction which is found usually in chapter one. Now in chapter one, the reader will be knowing more characters more especially the protagonist or the hero. The writer will also be writing about the time and place so that the readers can picture in their heads how things are going.

Now after the protagonist and some of the other characters have been introduced, then the antagonist will most likely be introduced next. In this stage, the author has already reached the climbing stage which would consist of a conflict that the protagonist has to resolve. The antagonist, of course, is trying to stop the protagonist from doing so.

Now as the story goes along many events will happen but the most exciting and interesting one is of course the climax. This is the part that would lead to the resolution of the story or in other words the big battle between hero and enemy. This will be the deciding factor as to what the conclusion would be.

Of course no story would be complete without a little twist that happens in the middle of the climax or somewhere after. Now for those that do not know what a twist is, it is basically a surprise in the story. It usually occurs somewhere near the climax but may actually occur somewhere before it.

Of course the last part would be the resolution part which is where the conflict is resolved. In this part, the hero has already finished the things that he was supposed to do. From there the author may or may not give him a happy ending.
