Tackling Problems With Public Education

By Patty Goff

Government schools are at a state that is too bad that many people have lost hope that there can ever be any changes done. The system is faced with very big challenges that have been there for a very long span of time and they do not seem to be changing soon. The government always keeps giving promises about changing this system but it is definitely easier said than done. The problems with public education affect everyone including the parents, students and their teachers.

Every government institution in the world is impacted by some of these challenges that will be mentioned below. For example, there are numerous schools that have small-sized classrooms. The quantity of scholars who attend these institutes is very big matched with the amenities that the state has made available. If the ratio of a teacher to the scholars is too extreme, it will be difficult for the educator to make certain that all the students comprehend what is taught.

Another issue that has affected this system for a long time is poverty. There are some reports that say that in America, 22% of the students live in or under the poverty level. This level is defined by a family that uses less than 23,000 dollars annually. The biggest number of school dropouts can be linked to poverty in a way since these students do not even get enough food and sleep.

One cannot utilize their full academic potential if they have a lot of stress coming from home. There are those children who are usually forced to get a part time job to help their families and this also affects their school works since they lack time to work on their school work. The fact that they lack basic essentials is also a factor that affects their education greatly.

Family matters also affect the attentiveness of the pupils in school. Parents are required to make sure that there is enough peace and harmony in their homes if they want the children to do better. There are many issues that can take place at home like divorce, domestic violence and insufficiency. When a scholar lacks the vital things then their school presence will also be impacted.

Technology has become a great part of our lives and it is therefore essential in the current learning system. There are very many students who are advanced technologically compared to their teachers. It is therefore only right if the teachers work hard to be more advanced than the children but the government schools lack the facilities that can make this possible.

Bullying is definitely something that is real especially in the public schools. These are things that some people overlook but they should not because they also affect the children especially the bullied ones. Technology has made this worse by making other avenues possible for the bullies. Cyber bullying is done on social Medias and it also affects the children. It can be blamed for very many suicides.

Funding is the most important thing that can assist in the upgrading of any amenities. The public school system lacks this therefore making this system to be less developed. When there is no funding it means that the management will not have money to pay the employees and teachers and also provide the important facilities.
